The last month of Spring at Norden House
Residents at our home have had a vibrant and joyful few weeks, filled with exciting activities and heartfelt moments.
Our creative residents have been busy piecing together memories and fabric in a colourful textile scrapbooking session. The session was not only artistic but also therapeutic, sparking conversations and reminiscences among residents.
A recent trip to a local aquatics centre delighted everyone with the serene beauty of fish tanks and exotic marine life. Residents enjoyed exploring different species of fish and aquatic plants, with many saying it was fascinating. The outing was completed with a cosy café visit, with everyone enjoying a lovely cup of tea.
We stepped back in time to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day. VE Day (Victory in Europe Day) marks the end of World War II in Europe on 8 May 1945.
Residents and staff were joined by our family and friends and other members of the community at a special 1940s-themed garden party. They enjoyed traditional games, afternoon tea, refreshments,and a local singer.
Amy Francis, Regional Activities Manager at Norden House, said: “We were proud to commemorate those who fought for our freedom. It was particularly poignant to hear our residents speak about what it was like at the time.
In an adorable turn of events, Norden House welcomed a clutch of ducklings! Residents have been lovingly helping staff care for the tiny visitors, feeding them and watching them grow day by day. The ducklings have brought immense joy and a calming presence, making daily routines a little brighter.
Our floral arrangement sessions continue to be a favourite. Residents recently created stunning spring-themed displays using fresh seasonal blooms. These fragrant, colourful arrangements now decorate communal areas, lifting spirits and adding a fresh burst of life to the home.
At HMT Norden House, it’s clear that creativity, connection, and care are at the heart of everything we do. We’re looking forward to even more memorable moments to share in the next month’s edition!
