Home is Being Together, Stella and Lynne’s Story

Some relationships define a lifetime. For Stella and her daughter Lynn, that relationship has carried them through decades of love, loss, laughter and unforgettable memories. From Caribbean cruises and watching dolphins dance alongside the ship to raising families and supporting one another through life’s greatest challenges, they’ve always faced life side by side.

When the time came for both women to move into residential care, their family’s greatest wish was simple… to keep them together.

At Norden House, every resident arrives with a lifetime of experiences, relationships and routines that make them who they are. Understanding those stories is where great care begins.

When Stella moved into Norden House in April, followed by Lynn just a few weeks later in May, it wasn’t simply about finding two rooms. It was about recognising that their relationship was central to both of their wellbeing.

Through our MAGIC – Making a Greater Impact In Care approach at HMT, every care plan is built around the individual. We take the time to understand what matters most, working closely with residents and their families to ensure care reflects not just clinical needs, but the life they’ve lived and the life they still want to enjoy.

For Stella and Lynn, that meant preserving something priceless, a lifetime together.

Today, they’re able to spend time with one another every day, joining activities, sharing meals, singing along to their favourite songs and reminiscing about treasured memories.

Stella still enjoys listening to Englebert Humperdink and Tom Jones, while Lynn never misses an opportunity to sing along to The Beatles and ABBA. They take part in balance and strength sessions, enjoy conversations with other residents and continue making new memories together.

Life at Norden House Care Home is about more than care. It’s about purpose, friendship and belonging.

It’s about creating opportunities for residents to stay connected with the people they love, remain part of the local community and continue enjoying meaningful experiences every day.

With personalised activities, community engagement, welcoming spaces for family visits and care that adapts to every individual, we strive to ensure every resident can continue writing their story

For Stella and Lynn, the difference has been felt not only by them, but by the whole family. Because sometimes in life, you just need your mum.

At Norden House, Making a Greater Impact in Care means seeing the person before the care plan, the family behind every resident and the memories still waiting to be made, every story deserves another chapter.
