Helping Residents Stay Active at Norden House
As we get older it becomes vitally important to stay active, to protect our bones and overall health. At Norden House, the vitality of our residents is always at the forefront of our minds – that’s why we provide a variety of options to keep everyone active.
The care team have designed an interactive program of activities that engage residents and benefit their health. Every other week a specialised physiotherapy takes place within the grounds. The session, led by physiotherapist Ben, engages the residents in simple, fun and balanced hand and foot exercises – all of which are wheelchair friendly. This is then followed by a range of breathing exercises.
“Physiotherapy for our residents has had such a positive impact on their wellbeing and introduced a very enjoyable morning activity. It improves their mobility, in both hands and feet, as well as helping them with their balance.” Commented Adriana, Activities Coordinator.
The benefits of these sessions range from seeing improved mobility, increased strength, positive balance attributes and creating a feeling of relaxation. Combined together, they lead to our residents leading a much healthier life.
Following sessions, residents have commented positively on their experiences and the benefits they have for them. From balance workshops to physiotherapy, each leaves individuals with a renewed energy for the day ahead.
Our MAGIC care model, at Norden House, is focused on benefitting physical and mental health attributes that lead to a greater quality of life for our residents. This continued commitment will see our physiotherapy sessions, alongside new workshops, deliver these physical benefits to all our residents.
