Norden House welcomes local community guitar group
HMT’s Norden House Care Home was proud to welcome a local community guitar group this September. The group, which started life at a U3A (University of the 3rd Age), found a wonderful new practice venue in the Care Home – with plans to play their music for the residents.
The group is made up of 4 members, Chrissy Parksons, Paul Comley, Steve Benson and Rod Lee. They all live within Littlehampton and have been playing guitars individually since childhood but upon meeting one another, they combined their love of music and now enjoy practicing and playing together. It’s been nearly 5 years since they formed, and they don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
Band member Rob stated: ‘Being a part of this type of group feels amazing and is lovely. It is important to get together. We are still learning everyday but the main purpose is to see the people we play for happy. I also want thank Norden House for allowing us use their facilities for rehearsals and we cannot wait to play for the residents’.
Whilst care home manager, Ellaine Navarro commented ‘At Norden House, we’re always happy to work alongside fellow community groups and help out where we can. When we heard the group needed a place to practice, we were more than happy to welcome them.’
When the group were looking for a practice venue, Norden House reached out and offered a private space for the group to use. Building community partnerships is at the heart of the care home and this was a perfect opportunity to work together with members of the U3A.
Once the group has gotten used to the new facilities they plan on putting on a small show for the residents. This has caused quite a lot of excitement, with many residents looking forward to the live performance.
